our charities
At hmv we are passionate about doing that little bit extra and that is why we support three charities. Colleagues in ROI support the Marie Keating Foundation, who aim to beat cancer through awareness, education and support services. Fopp colleagues support Trekstock, a small charity who fund research and provide information to young people with cancer and our UK stores and head offices support Teenage Cancer Trust, who help teenagers with cancer by providing specialist care and building specialist units in NHS hospitals, which improve the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer. We really get behind supporting our charities by holding fundraising events including football tournaments, quiz nights, climbing mountains, running marathons and sky dives.our environment
We have a giving & green forum, headed up by our CEO Simon Fox and they meet on a regular basis to review our environmental focus and charitable projects and put in place new initiatives. We are working hard to reduce our paper consumption as a business and are trying to reduce the number of carrier bags we use. Our bag for life, which is made from recycled plastic bottles is offered as a good alternative to a carrier bag and a % of sales goes to our charities. We also try and recycle as much of our waste as possible, both in our stores, head office and warehouses.
