Lee's story

since leaving school, I've always worked in record shops, even when I was at school i had a part time job in a record shop at weekends. when my mum first took me to Leeds I discovered hmv, and I was always in there spending all my pocket money on 12” singles, videos and albums.  Then after a few years of working in an independent record shop I decided I needed to move on, and hmv was the natural choice for me, so in June 1996 I started working at Leeds Headrow as a sales assistant, I still pop in every time i go home.

I have taken advantage of everything that hmv has offered me in terms of courses and career path.  My career has covered all aspects of work in hmv in store, and more recently working in head office.

I am now a new release dvd buyer, I work within a team of 6, and work closely with major film and tv studios, its my job to make sure that I buy enough stock for all of our stores.   I decide where best to market the product, this way I can make sure that the right product is being targeted at the right customer. Its also part of my job to watch as many films as possible, which is brilliant!

working for hmv has fitted perfectly with my passion for music and film and my passion has grown over the years.
